01/06/2011

The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) has been awarded the Cabinet Secretary's Trophy for The Most Improved Customer Service Entity for 2010/2011. The award, along with cash prize of $200,000.00 was presented at the Public Sector Customer Service Competition awards ceremony at the Wyndham New Kingston Hotel on May 25.
The award was presented to PICA’s CEO, Miss Jennifer McDonald by the Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Douglas Saunders.
During the function, the Agency’s customer service activities were highlighted through a video presentation which featured initiatives such as the passport mobile service, expedited passport service, PICA’s on-going newspaper column and revamped website.
In congratulating the PICA staff for their contribution to the victory, Miss McDonald expressed wholehearted thanks, adding that “We have all worked long and hard with very limited resources and are now reaping the results of the hard work”. Continuing, the CEO pointed out, “As an Agency, we are relatively young and have achieved a lot in a short space of time with limited resources. I am confident that over time we will be able to achieve much more”.
The Public Sector Customer Service Competition is based on customers’ votes and feedback as well as a presentation to a panel of judges consisting of persons from the public and private sectors. The event is held every two years and is organised by the Cabinet Office. This year's competition saw a record 28,000 members of the public providing feedback - a 400% increase over the last competition in 2008.
