PICA now offering passport services at Portmore and May Pen Tax Offices
09/08/2011

In its continued effort to improve on customer service delivery, the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) has introduced passport services at the Portmore and May Pen Tax Offices.
The move is aimed at regionalising PICA’s operation to allow more customers to conduct business with the Agency at greater convenience. Previously, applications were accepted at PICA’s head office in Kingston and at the Agency’s branch office in Montego Bay only.
Operations at the Portmore and May Pen Tax Offices began on August 3 and 10 respectively. Passport applications are accepted each day at both locations except the 13th – 16th & 28th – 31st of each month. This is to accommodate the increased volume from persons carrying out tax transactions at the Tax Offices.
In the case of Portmore, customers will benefit from the added convenience of being able to submit applications on a Saturday. Regular opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and on Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Portmore office only.
Turnaround times for the delivery of passports at both Portmore and May Pen are 11 and 14 days respectively.
Applicants are being reminded that they must submit the following when applying for their passport:
·         Application form (Certified)
·         2 Passport-sized photos (1 Certified)
·         Original birth certificate
·         Old passport
·         Marriage certificate
·         Deed poll (where applicable)
·         Police report for lost passport
·         Valid I.D. for lost & first-time applicants & for parents/guardian identifying their children
Children, three (3) years and over, must appear in person when applying.
Please note that the Tax Administration of Jamaica requires that persons conducting business at their offices must present their taxpayer registration number (TRN).
