First Time Minor Passport

The parent/ legal guardian is required to obtain and complete an application form on behalf of a minor (below age 18). He/she will submit the application form along with the following required documents:

  • The minor’s Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate or Jamaican Citizenship Certificate
  • Two (2) identical photographs ( NB: one photograph must be certified by the same certifying official who certified the application)
  • A valid Government-issued photo identification or passport for the parent/legal guardian (Example: drivers licence, voter identification).
  • Proof of name change if name has been changed (Marriage certificate, Divorce decree, Deed poll or Court Order)
  • The parent/legal guardian submitting the application is required to complete sections C and E of the application form.
  • Processing fees
The parent/legal guardian submitting the application is required to complete sections C and E of the application form. Section G is to be certified in the name of the parent/guardian who is applying.

 

Renewing a Minor Passport

  • Two (2) identical photographs ( NB: one photograph must be certified by the same certifying official who certified the application)
  • A valid Government issued photo identification or passport for the parent/legal guardian (Example: Drivers License, Voter Identification).
  • Proof of name change if name has been changed (Marriage certificate, Divorce Decree, Deed poll or Court Order)
  • Current passport
  • The parent/legal guardian submitting the application is required to complete sections C and E of the application form.

 

Please note: All minors, 3 years and older, must appear in person when the application is being submitted and must be accompanied by the parent/legal guardian who completed the application form. Where a parent/legal guardian has a difficulty visiting one of PICA’s location/Overseas Mission, the Agency’s Customer Service Unit should be contacted at 876-754-7422 for further advice.

 

Consent for a minor (Section C of passport application form)

The mother, father or legal guardian must complete the application for a minor less than 18 years of age. Persons under 18 years of age, who are unmarried, require the written consent of the mother, father (providing his name is stated on the birth certificate) or legal guardian, except where such person is a member of the Security Forces. In the event that neither parent nor legal guardian is available, contact should be made with the Customer Service Unit at PICA or the nearest consular representatives in the overseas missions.

First Time Adult Passport

You are required to obtain and complete an application form. Along with your application form you will be required to submit the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate or Jamaican Citizenship Certificate
  • Two (2) identical photographs (NB: only one photograph must be certified and this should be done by the same certifying official who certified your application)
  • A valid Government issued photo identification (Example: drivers license, voter identification).
  • Proof of name change if name has been changed (Marriage Certificate, Deed poll, Divorce Decree, Court Order)
  • Processing Fees

First time applicants will not be able to apply for their passport using our online service.

 

Renewing Adult Passport

N.B. If you have exhausted your passport pages, this form cannot be used.

  • If you have changed your name, then you will be required to fill out the regular passport application form and have it certified by a certifying official.

Along with your application form you will be required to submit the following documents:

  • Current Passport
  • Two (2) identical passport-sized photographs (Certification is only required if the applicant has changed his or her name and only one of the photographs is to be certified. Certification must be done by the same official who certified the application form)
  • Proof of name change if name has been changed (Marriage Certificate, Deed poll, Divorce Decree, Court Order)
  • Processing Fee: ($6,500.00). A Visa, Master debit or credit card will be required for persons applying online
PLEASE NOTE: If there has been no change to your name then certification of your document and photograph is no longer required when submitting an application for renewal of an adult passport ONLY. Additionally, the adult applicant may not be required to provide his/her birth certificate.

 

Expedited Services

Regular turnaround time for processing a passport application is seven working days for applications submitted at our head office in Kingston. Applications submitted through our regional offices will be processed in 14 working days and 11 working days in the case of our office in Portmore.
Expedited services are available to our customers who desire a quicker turnaround time. Applicants can benefit from same day, next day and three-day expedited service at PICA’s headquarters at 25 Constant Spring Road in Kingston ONLY.
Expedited services are also available at the PICA outposts for five-day and seven-day turnaround times. Local applicants applying online can benefit from a 3 working day expedited service.
No expedited service is available to overseas applicants.

Applying for an Adult Passport while Overseas

To renew an adult passport, the applicant should visit our website at www.pica.gov.jm and initiate the process. Adults renewing their passport will need:

• Their expired passport
• Jamaican citizenship document, i.e. either a Jamaican birth certificate, adoption certificate or citizenship certificate
• Passport-sized photograph for upload on our portal
• Visa, MasterCard debit or credit card to make payment
• An email address for receipt of relevant notification and alerts

The online passport renewal option is available to adult applicants who are renewing their documents ONLY. Additionally, 1st time adult applicants, adults who received their last passports as a minor (below age 18), persons who have changed their name and persons who are replacing their lost, stolen or damaged passport CANNOT use this option.
