Emergency Certificate:

If you have an emergency and you are unable to obtain a regular passport you may apply for an “Emergency Certificate”. An Emergency Certificate is a temporary travel document that is issued for specific travel. This document is subject to acceptance by the respective airlines and country of destination. It is recommended that you contact your airline before applying for this document. Once your airline has communicated their willingness to accept the document you will be required to complete a passport application and submit the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate or Expired Passport.
  • Two Identical photographs (one should be certified by the certifying official who certified the application)
  • Photo identification (if passport is unavailable)
  • Processing fee (Three business days $2,500 or next business day $5,000)

 

Travel Permit:

If you are a national of a foreign country that does not have an Embassy/High commission or a consular representative in Jamaica, you may apply for a travel permit to facilitate return to your country of origin in the case where your passport is lost, stolen, expired or unavailable. A Travel Permit is a temporary document that is issued to foreign nationals to facilitate travel. The following documents will be required:

  • A completed Travel Permit Application form
  • Two Identical photographs (one should be certified by the certifying official who certified the application)
  • Birth Certificate or expired passport
  • Proof of Immigration Status
  • Processing fees (adult – $2,500, Minor – $1,600)
  • Processing times -s three (3)business days

 

Seaman’s Certificate of Nationality:

Seaman’s Certificates are issued to Jamaican nationals who are engaged in seagoing employment or about to be engaged in seagoing employment. The documents required are:

  • Current Jamaican Passport and/or Jamaican Birth Certificate
  • Completed Seaman’s Certificate application form
  • Two Identical photographs (one should be certified by the certifying official who certified the application)
  • Proof of seagoing employment (letter from shipping company or shipping agent).
  • Processing fees (Three business days – $1500, Next Business day – $4000)
